Appliance Maintenance: Useful Tips for You

Electrical appliances have filled our lives with comfort. We cannot imagine our lives without them. They have truly become an inseparable part of our lives. Humankind has become extremely dependant on electrical appliances. But these are man-made machines. They too depreciate and breakdown. Hence, homeowners have to take good care of them to ensure they last for a longer period, or you can first go for rent appliances Mumbai, Delhi, Pune or any places to figure out its usability and other aspects prior buying them. Below given are some useful maintenance tips that you can go through.

  • Clean refrigerator coils

After being used for several months, the refrigerator coils can become clogged up due to the accumulation of dirt, dust, and pet hair. This hinders airflow, making it difficult for the refrigerator to function properly. Consequently, it reduces the longevity of the appliance. Make sure you vacuum clean the coil at least once or twice a year.

  • Replace the refrigerator's water filter

Even filters accumulate contaminants and impurities in them with time. Old filters are unable to separate the harmful substances from water, thus proving hazardous to users. Replace the water filter from time to time as per the instructions given in the manual. If you are unable to do it yourself, you can call for professional help to get the work done. Remember doing this after every three to six months.

  • Clean your dryer exhaust

Accumulation of lint in the dryer exhaust hinders its efficiency. It also increases the risk of catching fire. To clean the accumulated lint, loosen the clamp and pull the exhaust off the back of the dryer. Now, take out small chunks of lint from the tube using your hands. You can also use a straightened coat hanger for the purpose. Now vacuum it thoroughly and reattach the exhaust.

  • Regularly inspect washing machine hoses

Usually, the malfunctioning of most washing machines is caused due to leakage in the hose. Inspect the hose that links the back of the panel on your appliance. Check whether there's any crack, weak spot, leakage, etc. If you find any such deformities, consider replacing them immediately. Homeowners are advised to replace the hose after every five years.

  • Clean your air conditioner filter

You must be knowing that dust and dirt particles that settle down in the filter pipe hamper continuous airflow through it. It also prevents the air conditioner from functioning properly. All of this affects its longevity. The air filter must be cleaned after every two weeks. For cleaning the air filter, vacuum clean it thoroughly. If it's a disposable filter, you can replace it at regular intervals.

  • Leave the door open after using the washing machine

After washing is over, leave the door open for a few minutes to let the water dry. You must also clean the inside of the washing machine and remove the remaining bacteria, dirt, soapy residue, etc. after the clothes are washed. It's advisable to wash in small amounts. Large loads can affect the functioning of the machine, causing early death.

Above mentioned are some of the useful tips that would be enough to ensure the proper functioning of electrical appliances like refrigerator, air conditioner, washing machine, dryer, etc. All you have to do is invest a few minutes daily and enjoy long terms of service. This will reduce the amount of money you would have to spend repairing them otherwise.  In any case, you are unsure about the appliances you actually need in your home, you can go for furniture rental Mumbai, Delhi, or any other major city.
