India’s badminton players RMV Gurusaidutt, Saurabh Verma and Sameer Verma won the second round of the Swiss Open World Tour Super-300 tournament after winning their first round match.
Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Gurusaidutt defeated Brazil’s Yagor Coelho 21-16 21-11 in straight games after ankle surgery.
Saurabh then defeated Misha Zilberman of Israel 21-11, 21-18, while his younger brother Sameer defeated France’s Thomas Roxel 22-20 21-10 in the first round of the men’s singles.
Sameer will face Japan’s Yugarashi in the next round while Saurabh will be up against Gurusaidutt in the All-India match.
Sai Prasaditya Rao Chukka beat Germany’s Yvonne Lee 25-23, 21-16 in a tough match of the women’s singles.
Abhishek Yeelagar, Shri Krishna Priya Kudravalli, Riya Mukherjee and Vaishnavi Reddy Jaka failed to cross the first round.
